Depart on your own from your city of choice on a flight to Kotoka International Airport - Accra, Ghana. Take a designated Uber or taxi to relax at your hotel and await the the arrival or your fellow travelers. Some will join late PM early AM the next day on arrival to Ghana.
Early AM you will be greeted by your local guide & host, PRIDE OF GHANA TOURS, for the 12 day trinity journey through Accra, Kumasi, & Cape Coast. Enjoy breakfast and refreshments in a relaxed environment while reviewing your travel itinerary. Take a relaxing drive through this 144 Year Old Gold Coast City to check the Friday night lights and mayhem from afar. Enjoy getting to know your fellow travelers over a buffet style dinner and an official meet & greet!
After breakfast tour Independence Square, bordered by the New Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park Mausoleum and the Accra Sports Stadium. Then stop at Accra Mall to have lunch and purchase any last minute familiar provisions and devices that may be needed on the journey. On the way out, get a closer look ocean side at the popular Jamestown, and Agbogbloshie Market, home of the world's largest electronic waste site. Finish the day, having a drink a popular night spot in town.
Enjoy a delicious local breakfast cooked to order. After, take a short drive to the MAKOLA Market, a renowned market place and shopping district in the centre of the city of Accra. Next put your eyes on Agbogbloshie Market, the largest dumping and processing of electronic waste in the world. Later, depart Accra on a quick 45-minute drive to the Eastern Regions' small mountainous town of Aburi to night at Sweet Mother Eco-Resort.
Rise up to the cool morning mist of Aburi's hilltop, over looking Accra & catch the morning sun at Aburi Botanical Gardens. Experience the lush tropical flora & picnic in the garden with an early lunch. Then visit the young woodcarvers of Akuapem mountains and the CEDI Man the oldest and most famous makers and users of beads in the world. Sit in on a glass bead making demo & craft some beads of your own. Take a short 2 Hour Journey to sleep at the BOTI Waterfalls.
In the AM Choose between 3 natural attractions of Boti falls: the 45 minute hike to umbrella rock, the 250 concrete stair descend to the infamous coupled waterfall or a walk around the three headed palm tree. Enjoy the scenic afternoon drive to arrive in the beautiful Kumasi by night fall. Take a rest!
After a good nights rest, arrive to tour Kumasi, home of the great Ashanti Kingdom, to visit the Adinkra cloth makers & and Kente weaving village to buy directly from the artisans. Shop for textiles and get fitted for your custom made Ghana Garb. Tour Kumasi Central Market, an open-air market in the city of Kumasi, the largest single market in West Africa.
Farewell, Elodia! Off for a scenic ride to legendary town of Cape Coast. Eat local. Then prepare to enter Cape Coast Castle, a World Heritage site, to revisit the story of our ancestors, step thorough the “Door of No Return” and revisit the dungeons of those enslaved before the Middle Passage journey. Take it to the beach to stretch & reflect followed by dinner & group circle.
Early drive down the coastline to Elmina Castle built by the Portuguese in 1482, for West African slave trade. Meet with fishermen to learn the intricacies & challenges of the trade, then visit the mongers village side to demonstrate the various stages of fish smoking in earthen ware ovens, preservation and netting. Explore some hideaway spots in Elmina town. Head back to Cape Coast or enjoy nightlife. Take an afternoon tour of University of Cape Coast, the citadel of education in Ghana.
